Serve to the Body to Jam the Returner
The Situation
You are serving and want a reliable, high-percentage target that makes the return difficult.
What To Do
Aim the serve directly at the returner's hip or shoulder. Do not chase corners โ the body serve is your safest and most effective default.
Why It Works
A ball at the body removes the returner's swing space. They cannot generate a clean angle and the return will be defensive, giving your net partner an easy first volley. Professional coaches consistently identify this as the highest-percentage serve target for all levels.
Court Positioning
Server (right service box) โ ball aimed directly at returner's hip/shoulder. Net partner holds position. Returner has no swing room to generate angle.

Skill Level
Return Low at the Net Player's Feet
You are returning serve and the server's partner stands at the net ready to intercept.
Both Returners Advance After the Return
You have returned serve and your partner is already at the net. You are standing on the baseline.
Lob the Return Over the Net Player
The net player is aggressive and intercepts your cross-court returns consistently.
