Never Have One Player at Net and One at Baseline
The Situation
After a shot one player is at the net and their partner is still at the baseline.
What To Do
This situation must be resolved immediately โ either both advance to the net together or both stay back. A split pair is the worst tactical position in padel.
Why It Works
As Padel Coach Finder describes, a split pair creates a diagonal gap that opponents can exploit with any angled ball. The player at the net has no cover behind them. The player at the baseline has no one beside them. Opponents will target the middle every time.
Court Positioning
Diagonal gap visible when one player is at net and partner at baseline. Opponents aim cross-court into the open diagonal.

Skill Level
Never Both Players on the Same Side of the Court
During a rally you realize you and your partner are both on the same side of the court.
Never Stop in the Transition Zone
You are moving forward after a return and feel comfortable stopping between the service line and the net.
Split Step Before Every Opponent Shot
You are at the net or moving around the court and find yourself late to react to balls.
